How difficult is it to put power seats in an early car without power seats? What would I have to do to install them?
Thanks to all in advance

I don't know if it is the same in early cars, but my 85.5 has the wire on both sides ready to be hooked up to power seats, even though only my driver seat is power.

Well, You have to have the seat out, and it would be under the rug right in the center under the seat. thats where mine was anyway,, but maybe someone else knows if thats on early cars? Seems very likely to me that it's not.

I have seats out of a 86 in my 84. They bolt right in with no problem. There are not any power hook ups for them though. You can probley tap into a ground and hot and hook up the plug. When I part out a late car, I always make sure and get the plug for the power seats and as much line as I can.

Would it be easy to find power for the seats?

Couldn't say exactly, but I've pulled the 4-way power seats from my 951 and the manual ones from my 83, and the former took considerably more effort!
As for the power source, it's been done. Probably a search here or in the E-Mail lists will bring some more info. Sorry I can't be of more help, but it's just something I've never been keen on. The early cars are cool as they are, IMHO.

If you put late seats in an early car make sure to use the seat belt latch bolted to the car and not the one on the seat. Late seats use six bolts to hold them to the car, early uses four. You'll need all the help you can get if you get into an accident.
My 83 did not have any wiring for the power seats from the factory. I used an empty spot in the fuse box.
If you use the late rear seats in an early car you will have to fabricate a new seat back latch as the two cars are different in the way they hold the seat up.

Not sure what this means :

I have late model seats in my car ( have not powered them up yet) but they work just fine with no mods.....can you explain what you are talking about???
TIA
