Default Miles or no Miles....?

I know, I've read everyone saying condition is more important than miles. But I just am worried. I found a good looking 944 turbo at a good price but it has 170,000 miles. Does there come a point when too many miles is too many. Or should i just take it to my mechanic and if it checks out have no worries... Just in the back of my mind right now I think of the ugly happening... Whats your thoughts?

170K miles is no big deal, provided that the car is well cared for and the price reflects the mileage.

A good PPI should put your mind at ease.

I've seen 2 local 951's that were over 300K miles and were still moving along under their own power.

These cars arent made in America, they dont fall apart all of a sudden

Miles are really no big deal. Yes there will be things cropping up, but theyre things that do get old and wear out. CV joints, ball joints, tie rods, radiator, etc are some of the things ive done on my 204k mile 951. As long as you dont mind having to put some money into it, then youre fine.

remember, anything that can happen to a 300k car can happen to a 50k car. When it happens to a higher milage car its just alittle more expected.

Porsche 944's are not immune to wear. 170,000 miles is a lot.

miyagikarate, does the car have any records? It would give you peace of mind, and alert you to what needs to be done in the future. Echoing the sentiments of some of the others, mileage isn't too great a deal as long as the car has been well maintained. Even if the car has records, definitely have your mechanic check it out. Good luck.

Like someone said earlier, be prepaired to spend some money on maintenance items if you're buying a car with that many miles.
