I don't think you can hurt the engine by missing a cylinder as long as mechanically everything is connected. It can't be too difficult to source the problem though. Check for spark first. Check compression. Check injector. bang it fires.

If my car was only running on three cylinders i wouldn't drive it. (and its a daily driver for me) Honestly, if that "mechanic" can't find it, i doubt he is really all that qualified. I mean i am only 17 yet i have diagnosed and solved all of my problems with my 944. Just like jim 7 said, check for spark, check compression, i mean all you have to do really is trouble shoot. I'm sure you'll find it. Good luck!! And rock on with the 85.5!!

haha, yeah i know you're 17 too serge. I checked out your site, you did a lot to your car!! very impressive. I have only one qualm. I don't think bras look good on cars. But if the previous owner of mine had one, i wouldn't have a peppered look on my hood. blah.

Ok, I really do have time this weekend, after 3 on Sat or Sun, lets take a looksee. For kicks and giggles please order a injector reseal kit, you can get them at an auto parts store for about 9 bucks, IIRC. I have an idea of what we are going to find already.

I wouldn't run it like that for too long, running on three cylinders puts added stress on the crankshaft. I would disconnect the injector on the cylinder that is not running - that way the gas won't mix with the oil.

I agree, but the bra prevents my car from looking like a **** wagon. It also accents my new fuchs well.

Campeck's sending pms now!!

"well. I was able to come to that conclusion because my mind was at ease..
see...I though every one had stopped being a jackass......aparently not."

It's nice your mind is at ease, but please don't try to provide advice when you have little idea what you're talking about. The advice you gave in this thread is dangerous. Some people who are new to the foum might assume you know what you're talking about, so stick to what you know.

Better no advice than bad advice. That's my advice to you, my boy.

I don't know where you got your faulty logic from, but I would not advise driving it. (And please don't send me another PM either.)

Something someone didn't mention is that running on 3 cylinders cannot be good for the catalytic converter. Hot catalytic converters don't like unburnt gasoline.
