Thumbs up Last call for a 951!

Ya I'm still on the look out for a 951 and I'm asking for the boards help to find one. Help me find one before I have to go buy an RX-7 . Last call before I do some stupid and purchase a Mazda. Even though it puts out 405hp its still no 951.

I'm looking foward to owning a porsche, but god damn I can't find a single one in this area. If you know any in your area or have one for sale, get in contact with me asap.

I'm looking to buy in the NJ/NY area, so any leads will be helpful. Thanks.

Stock or modified, anything will do at this point.

dude... ok.. number one, dont frickin settle. number two, you cant get anywhere with out a little work of your own. stop looking in your area if they are not there, you wont find it. look all over the us for the right car, your price, with what you want. after you find it, set up the agreement with the seller, buy a plane ticket and drive back.

I looked for my car for over a year. It was worth the wait. In the mean time you will have a good time hunting.

What year, and price range?

I was about to post the same thing ....

If I were to find any 944/951/968 that I wanted ( if the wallet didn't have dust ) I would not hesitate one momemt to jump on a plane.. like I have said before, the fun is driving it home....

If you are willing to settle for a RX-7 then maybe you need to look inward to see if you really truly love what these cars are...

If you were looking to buy a puppy, would you go to a breader or down to a pet store or down to the pound and find the cutest sweetest looking puppy.. sometimes its the building of the foundation that brings the greatest enjoyment..

When I bought my 951 I had to rent a car one way to go get it. I left after work mind you, so this was going to be a long day. The rental car company gave me a beat *** Cavalier with no air. It was close to a 4 hour drive, and it just so happened to be over 90 degrees on an early spring day. Lucky me. So I sweat my *** off for 4 hours and get there to find my baby exactly as described.

A few hours later after all the paperwork was done I drove home 4 hours. That was probably the best drive I have ever taken. Pure bliss.

What is your budget? (sorry if you already mentioned it and I didn't see it).

I know that there are a lot of 944/951 cars in this area of Ohio. You should consider doing a search on Autotrader.com. If there are any that are in my area that look good and meet your criteria, I'm certain that myself or any of the other knowlegable S.O.W. guys would be willing to check it out, drive it, take some photos, and do a sorta "pre-PPI" for you. Then if one gets the green light, pay the $$$ to have the car taken to the local P-car dealer (White Allen or Northland Porsche). You could always fly in, pick it up, and drive back. NJ is a leisurely 2-day drive from here, can be done in a day in a pinch.

The drive home is worth it.

Remember, patience is the most important virtue in finding these cars, which are 15 to 18 years old now.

This car is less than 1/2 hour from me. Below average miles, looks to be a good price, could probably be bargained down a bit. I've seen the car before, cosmetically it looks great but I haven't been any closer than 5-10 feet.

It's an 87.

Which RX7 are you talking about. If you are talking about a last gen RX7 with 405hp, I would have to think long and hard about taking a 951 over one of those -- unless the 951 has been tinkered with too.

All this assuming the mazda engine is actually one of the few rx7 engines that hasnt been replaced or rebuilt three times.

The RX-7 is every bit as much fun as a 951 and EASILY can be as fast, they look fantastic and drive very well (on highway much better than any 944 I have ever driven).

That said, I would never have a 3rd gen unless I had enough money for an engine rebuild at all times.

I've been looking for a 951 since the time I owned my last car. I personally don't want to go with an RX-7, but performance wise you can't beat it especially since its a buyers market at the moment. Usually on this region people start asking crazy prices for a stock car with high mileage, and no maintence records.

The year or price of the car doesn't matter. I'm just trying to find one. I've contacted a few guys on the board about their cars. I even test drove one an 89 last weekend, offered the seller cash, and he said he had to wait on the person who called him before me in GA.

Thats all I do when I have free time..

I go on the usual listing.

Rennlist classifieds
eBay
Want ad press
Auto shopperonline
Cars.com
Carbuyers.com
Carbuyer.com
Autotrader
Etc..

I would love to get a car from a rennlister, but I can't find sellers in the area.

I would paypal a person a $100 + .03% if they led me to a purchase of a car
