Question Strut tower brace?

What do u guys think of strut tower braces? Are they worth the money and how much do they improve the car's handling? I am thinking of purchasing one for my car.

I've heard some people say they're worth it and other say that they are not. But I'd imagine that unless you are tracking the car, it may not be needed.

But I have one anyway because I think that every car should.

KLA in my opinion is the best option and at a very good price. Other braces have alot of issues with hood clearance and the fact some are almost double the price as the KLA.

From what i hae read about there usefullness, most say that there are many other things that should be done to the suspension before adding a strut brace. Bigger sway bars would yield more noticeable affects. Also basically replacing any old bushings and components would make a big difference also. I bought the strut brace partially because it was at a discounted price ($100) and that it looked nice under the hood (prepares to be flamed). As for what the addition of the bar changed, the front end feels a little tighter in my swirving from left to right test in an open parking lot. I think the addition of a rear sway bar would have made a much bigger difference for my 924S.

If I had it all do over again, I'd have bought the KLA brace.

I mean, I like the looks of mine and all, but the KLA one was half the cost...

Depends, some people swear by them, others not so much. I have one (an Racing Dynamics bar) but to be honest, I could probably live without it.

In my very humble opinion if it does not triangulate it is probably not going to do a whole lot.

I had Koni's on my 944 with 250lb springs. I also added a strut brace I bought from Ian at 944online.

Car handled even better!! I say go for it!

Here's what I've heard (don't know if it's right or not, but makes sense to me ;-)

If you have camber plates it probably makes a bigger difference. There is a bunch of rubber in the bushing at the top of strut where it mounts to the flange. Ther rubber will flex and reduce the effect of stiffer shock towers. Get rid of the rubber with camber plates, then get a strut brace.

well it doesnt bolt to the rubber, it mounts to the holes where the plate mounts. I see your point but what it does is keeps the strut towers from spreading in a tight corner messing w/ the geometry. i could see your point w/ the camber plates though.

I've got a Weltmeister that I will sell to somebody for $120.00 plus shipping. I've had it on my car for 4 or 5 years now and left the cross bar off when I put my intake back on a few weeks ago and can honestly say I haven't noticed it is missing. No real clearance issues to speak of. I can push in on the hood sheet metal and get it to touch the brace, but it really doesn't touch in real life driving.

I don't think a strut brace with heim joints is going to do much since the car is able to parallelogram (to borrow the term) around those joints. I've said that for years and I stand by that assertion. The only one I know of on the market that looks like it is really worth a **** is the Camber Truss Stable Energies sells.

Exactly what I was saying only worded much better.
