Default timing belt and control arms...

Hello, In my 944 86 my question is: I can work without placing the strap of belt timing? he is bad for the motor?
I can change my control arms 87 by those of the 83?

Hmm, if you are asking if you can run the motor without a timing belt...............then that is indeed bad for the motor.

I'm not certain on your control arm question if you have an 86, but 83 and 87 arms are different lengths and are not really interchangeable.

downgrading your arms would require replacing the bushings and tie rods on your steering rack. Do you have power steering? Although the A-arms from the early 944s are stronger being that they are steel and less expensive, I personally would stick with the later control arms. If you need control arms, there are various Porsche merchants out there that will sell them for about 389-420 bucks. I don't know if there will be a core charge though.

Can't understand the first part about the timing belt. The 83 control arm is steel, the 86 control arm has the same offset as the 83 but is aluminum, and the 87 control arm is aluminum with different offset from the 83-86. So, none are interchangeable unless you want an aluminum control arm on one side of the car and steel on the other after changing out the link that holds the sway bar to the control arm (different from 83 to 86).

The inner cam belt is needed for the engine to run. The outer balance shaft belt can be removed. However, people who have removed the balance shaft belt have experienced broken oil pick-up tubes and other problems from increased vibrations. I would leave the balance shaft belt in place.

no. Looking at the ends, there is a different style of mounting them up. You would have to upgrade some parts on your suspension as well as some cutting, restuding and welding. The arms on that 924S appear to be early 944 arms. I could be mistaken and Porsche could have changed the arms again.

No they are not interchangeable. The one you show for the 944 is an 87+ part with the wrong offset. It has the hole in the control arm and definitely did not come factory in an 83 or 86 unless you are not in the U. S. and ROW cars are different.
