Chips - Doritos or Lays?
Anyone hear anything good about these:

A lot of the reviews seem positive. Also, when he says 93 octane...is he referring to the system we use in the U.S.? The highest octane gas accessible to me is 91 octane.

93 octane is available in other states (PA, NY and NJ being three i defenetley know of...). Im not sure if this is true, but perhaps the stricter fuel emission standards in CA are the reason you only have 91 available?
As for the chips, im more of a Ruffles type of guy. Lays break up too easily in dip, the Ruffles give that extra strength needed when going for that extra scoop of dip.

You get what you pay for is all I have to say. I wouldn't be surprised if its the same as the factory chip.... I had a buddy by a set of so called "performance chips" ended up being the same as the factory chip in the car. LOL

Regardless, i cant get 93 octane so i might just look into FR Wilk's chips.

An NA is limited as to the wayss a chip can make extra power. The fuel maps can be optimized a bit to gain a HP (or less) but the big gains (3-4 HP) come from advancing the ignition timing and this will only work with the use of higher octane fuel. You'll get away with more advance (read, more HP) with 93 octane than you will with 91.

I bought one of those chips on Ebay from the same seller. He shipped promptly and had no troubles with the transaction. I must admit that I noticed very little in the way of increase in performance. It definately burns richer at the higher RPM range, but we all know lean is mean. I figured for $25 I would give it a shot. I will probably buy an FRWilks chip myself fairly soon.

I have also herd the same as Dave. I was thinking about a chip and when i spoke to mechanics about it they all said they they do not pay off with the hp gains for the money. As dave said they will give u about 4 hp at best nothing that you will feel. The only cars that a chip realy makes a diffrance for are the turbos becuase it allows more boost (wich can be dangrous) bu i have herd they lead to big gains. I passed on the chip bacuase i did not feel the the gains justified the price.
As for the chips i would have to go with lays
