Default Late 944 OPRV came out of housing in pieces. How to re-assemble it?

I was removing oil cooler housing of my 1988 base 944 to re-seal it. As a first step, I tried to remove the OPRV but only the OPRV cap with 24mm hex head came out and rest of the OPRV stayed stuck in the block. After I removed the oil cooler housing, I was able to pull out rest of OPRV out of engine block.

Now I have OPRV in 4 pieces as shown in the picture. I tried to re-assemble the pieces, but I do not know how to re-assemble it.

1) There is a small cylinder piece (with blue arrow), where does this piece go in assembly?

2) The 24mm hex cap does not seems to thread into longer stem part. I know need to get new seals for this OPRV but I was wondering how these 2 pieces attach together.

Thanks for your help.

I have a memory of someone going through and disassembling these for analysis, but I don't remember who it was. I think it was @harveyf ; perhaps it's worth a search through his posts.

However, it really looks to me like that little cylinder is broken off of the threaded part, an inspection of those two parts may be instructive.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply @Zirconocene , I found that thread here. That thread was very helpful and even included a TSB on how to reassemble the OPRV.

Good, you found my article. Thinking about it is causing a small amount of PTSD They really don't want to be reassembled. FWIW, the engine that predecated the article is still running strong!
Ping me if you need additional support.
