Default AOS "vent cap" o-ring - **updated with suitable replacement + picture*

Does anyone know the part number or dimensions of the seal for the top black "cap" of the AOS to the bottom part?

This is not the Oil filler cap, but the clipped-on removable lid the AOS hose attaches to.

If no part number/dimensions are available, would black RTV applied liberally work as a seal here?

I figured it out once, and posted about it on Pelican..... I'll have to dig to find it again. I even had a part number......

I see no reason why RTV would not work. It's a bit of a sloppy fix though...

I used silicone there but it did not last long. Maybe I did not clean the surfaced enough or maybe it just doesn't work it this place.

Pardon my ignorance but what does "AOS" stand for in this use? I always thought it was the model of my transmission.

Sorry. I could not find it. I do now remember, that I had a pile of random o-rings, and installed the one that fit best. Something around 2.25 inches.... but I'm pulling that number out of my.....

I guess you want to have the o-ring ready, before you tear the aos apart, to minimize down time.

I recall blocking two of the ports with my fingers and blowing in the third. Leaked before I took the cap off, and was nice and tight, with the new o-ring.

Default Is this the thread you were looking for?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...clean-aos.html

I doubt there is a "part number" for the o-ring as a "pro" mechanic would probably just replace the whole unit rather than replace a leaky o-ring.

I have my AOS off the car but actually just got a spare to put back on to simplify plumbing (it is an S2 unit) as I am rebuilding my under-manifold hose system.

But I want it to be sealed tight! When I opened up the S2 AOS either there wasn't an o-ring or it just disappeared when I was washing it in the kitchen sink

Yes!
One guy found an appropriate replacement on Mcmaster, with PN 9396K172.
I've asked if he has any left. If not I will buy a pack of 10 and make them available to any rennlister who is interested.

I went ahead and ordered the McMaster-Carr item, 9396K172 on suggestion from another 944 owner.

Below you will find a picture showing how well the o-ring fits, it looks perfect to me!

You only need one o-ring for this seal but I wanted to show both sides of the fitment.

These came in a pack of 10, I only need one, so if anyone wants one of these o-rings for their own AOS, you can have one for cost of a stamp
PM me if interested.

Nice! I take it these would work for a 951 as well?

Arash,
I think I have a 951 AOS laying around, I will check for you! But I think it will.

So far 3 o-rings have been claimed out of the 10, so 7 are available still.
Luckily there are plenty more to be had
