Default experienced body workers?

I'm pulling out a series of dents on my left quarter panel...

This is my first time using a stud gun and doing body work.

Mostly it's pretty easy except Im not sure how I will go from "almost there" with some disformation to "final product."

How close do you get with the stud puller and hammer and dolly before you rely on fiberglass filler?

Also how do you re-create the "flat" edge around the fender if it was dented?

I'm having a great time learning this for everyone who is going to tell me to just cut off another quarter panel and weld it on, so please only reply if you have some advice on how to do it without replacing the whole fender (even though I might do that down the line.)

Thanks!

it is definitly an interesting task. The more studs the better. Get it withing at LEAST a quarter inch before you start with any kind of glass filler.

its very close, but I'm talking about the details in the fender lip/edge...

do you recreate that using the filler and sanding it to the shape?

yeah, that is tough but you have to make the line again. Use a piece of tape to "draw the line back on one side of it. Block the bodywork up to that line. then move the tape to the oposite side of the line and block up to that. Repeat as necessary. Then round the line off to match the original, good luck!

Spot weld type of gun that attaches copper or brass rods to the dent then a pull hammer is used to pull the dent out. The hammer works by a slide on the t bar that attaches to the rod and you pull up on the slide to pull the rod up and the dent with it. Snap off the rods and sand to level. Dal

yep the stud gun is great and you can get special wire type cutters to that shear off the stud near the plane of the body of the car so there is minimal grinding...

I just used wire cutters and ground down the rest of the stud...

re: blocking - thats what I thought you meant, thanks...
