I'd say you try to revive it before parting it out. Not sure if you've looked already, but the CA DMV does have some info on titling abandoned cars: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/salvage.htm

Its condition will dictate whether you restore it or part it out. Get a borescope and check out the cylinders. Most likely the engine will have to come out as the rings will have rusted to the cylinders. But you should be able to rebuild the engine without needing too many extra parts.

That car is a total piece of ****, well maybe a parts car and it has not been sitting there for seven years, it came in the spring of 01 and the owner disappeared. If I remember correctly the tags expired sometime in the 90's.Plus a ton of parts on that pile grew "legs" and walked away if you understand what I mean.

according to them, its been there for 6 years. (some said 7) the tags expired in 97. It is missing a couple parts, yea. the rear valance, all its belts, spark plugs and an airbox... otherwise body is straight, it has fuchs, seats are decent... how do you know this car anyway? aren't you in alaska?

The car came in 01 when the place still was owned by the previous dealership, in fact I saw that thing coming of the tow truck running on two cylinders and I had to walk by it for several years. I understand your enthusiasm but it is clear to me that you do not have the best eyes for missing parts and there is a lot more than your list. If you are a masochist with 20 large, yeah, you can make that car nice, but it would be better to part it out and put it on e -bay.

i wasn't planning on making it nice, hence not worth making it a street car comment. after a tear down it would be decided whether i will part it out, or build a track car.
I didnt spend very much time with it as i was looking at i over my lunch break, what else is missing. Whats the huge box in the passenger seat? did you work at ogner? (or auto gallery)

sounds like a lost cause......
in most cases, when you go to take the shell to the junkyard, they will require a title to take it- cuz they dont want stolen cars either- or you could cut it up w/ a sawzaw like nine44's old car.

You must obtain the title, to do anything with it.
Now there are probably fines from the DMV on the car, too, that would have to be paid.

1988952 Come on man what's this?
It?s cool to let the guy know that the car is a piece of juck but keep the cursing at home there are kids on this board.
A) yep the dude is excited
B) I'm glad things become clear to you after so little information but please hold personal judgments of people
C) Yeah the dude is excited, so he didn?t post every singe detail about the car down to the air pressure in the spare tire, come on.
Over all I like your helpful comments and attempt to help someone out who has a good deal line up keep from making any overzealous decisions. However it would be nice if you used some tack instead of personal zingers and profanity. Let keep it friendly around here man.
Warm Regards,
John
