Default anyone in Cali planning/want to make it to 944fest?

I really am dying to go to 944fest. My car will still be down, so thats out. the money going into the head (port & polish, radiused valves etc) is money that restricts me from buying an airline ticket. So if anyone is driving from cali, or anyone that would like to, I'd be interested in riding along.
Anyone interested in getting a westcoast caravan together?

I'd like to do it, but without a 944, what's the point?

Next year, man. . . next year. . . when all our cars are running. I think the sight of 8 or 9 944s thundering across the desert eastbound alone would be worth the wait.

10 bucks says at least 4 of our cars don't work next year either! the point is to be with everyone, drink with everyone, party with them, and see the country. 944 or not!

You're probably right about some of the cars being down next year though but it seems like EVERYONE'S car is down right now (including mine). It also seems to be kind of short notice for this year anyway (at least for me). The only chance I'd have to do it would to be to leave Friday afternoon and still be back for work on Tuesday morning. That's really pushing it in a big way - Ohio is pretty far and I'd prefer to spread a trip like that over 3-4 days. If you think it's do-able in a rental though I'd certainly be interested and I'd be willing to drive / put in for gas, food, whatever. Just let me know if this goes anyplace.

hmm, is it too late to get a couple days to a week off from work? I work at enterprise rent-a-car, so I can get real decent prices on renting a car. I've never driven that far, and I think it would be amazing to see the country that we live in, and to boot, hang out with awsome people and party with them, and drive with em.

EDIT: we could rent a convertible!

Hehe. . . maybe just maybe. To complicate things further, I'm smack in the middle of negotiations with a new firm for a new job (formal interview is next week). I just might be able to work something there.

I wish we could just rent a plane, but the price (even split 5 or 6 ways) would be crazy expensive. I did one coast-to-coast "time building" trip like that but it was INSANE expensive. Fun though.

I'm kind of liking that convertable idea though. . .

And with fuel prices, flying on av gas to NZ would not be cheap... damn it.

I think enterprise is offering a cheapazz rent a car for 9.99 a day locally with unlimited mileage - you could auto-x it when you get here as well....

I think that's where the new cars that run at Kilkare are from anyhow
