Default Interesting 924S info!

Just picked up the 3 Volume "Excellence Was Expected" books (OMG!!! ) and found some interesting info regarding the 924S. Firstly, the internal model designation for the 924S was 946 (947 being the right hand drive versions). Secondly, there was a 924S2 being readied for the 1989 model year with the 944 oval dash, and revisions to the front and rear facias. The model was killed off as Porsche was trying to break ties with the VW/Audi factory where the watercoolers were being built.

Wow... a 924S2... cool!

Sweet! Hey Chris - that first link will attept a download of GAIN. Make sure your system is protected BEFORE you click it. In reality, the second link has much better photos anyway.

No pics in the book nor is there a mention on what engine a 924S2 would have used. Probably the 2.7L NA but imagine the 3.0L 16-valver in the lightweight 924S shell? Drool...

That looks great! All it needs is bigger tires on a set of D90's.

I read a while back that the 924S was originally designated (or going to be designated) the 942.

My roommate would have done that, but he got his new kidney last friday...

But yeah... it looks like a 944S2 in a 924 body. Sounds deliciously evil!

I like the vented front piece, does anyone know where you can get one of those? That would look great on Jaime's 924, her front piece is dented a little. Best wishes - Jay Gratton
