Official 944fest 04 invite!
Greetings! This post is your formal invite to 944fest '04, July 3rd and 4th 2004. We'll be gathering at the Swift home in Lebanon, Ohio for a two day event full of food, fun and fellowship. Lebanon is between Cincinnati and Dayton in south-western Ohio. The focus of the 944fest is the front engine Porsche. 924s, 944s, 928s and even Cayennes! If you must, drive your 911 or boxster, but don't expect any special treatment. We'll start Saturday, July 3rd with opening ceremonies (?) at 2PM. Feel free to arrive as early as noon for the set up. We'll be cooking out Friday eve, burgers, dogs, pop and beer. We'll wash and wax cars and start on some tech demonstrations. Later on we'll gather around the bonfire for bench racing, songs and fireworks. There is plenty of room for pitching tents or unrolling a sleeping bag, but more expensive accommodations are available a couple of miles away at the Lebanon Best Western (http://www.bestwestern.com). Sunday morning we'll gather again for more events, including judging, award presentation, a spirited group cruise thru the area, and a catered cajun theme lunch. Most folks seem to be ready to start heading home by 5pm Sunday, so we'll call that the official end of the event.
We'll have event T-shirts available, and we'll be giving away generous door prizes for Rennlist members and front engine Porsche drivers. We've got Rennlist.com, Paragon Products and Horsepower Farm, Inc. on board as major sponsors. Last year we had 30+ Porsches, this year I expect even more. This event is FREE to attend, the food and drink is all provided, but donations are always welcome. This event has grown from a fellowship on the forums at http://forums.rennlist.com/, visit us there in the 944 areas for updates on the plan. http://www.944fest.com has pictures and videos from past events. As far as I know, this is the largest gathering for front engine Porsches in the country. For driving directions, tell http://www.mapquest.com/ that you need to go to 698 S. Liberty Keuter Rd, Lebanon, OH 45036. It is very easy to find just a mile or two off I-71.
If you would like to join us, all I ask is a RSVP to 944fest@adelphia.net. Please let me know how many cars and people to expect (passengers are welcome of course!) If you have any questions, concerns or special requests let me know. Contributions to the door prize collection are always welcome. If you'd like to contribute by bringing food or beverages, pop, deserts, snacks, etc. that would be great. Quality beer and some pop will be provided, if you'd like some other form of beverage BYOB. NOTICE: Driving while intoxicated will NOT be tolerated.
Please let me know if you plan to join us!!
See ya there

CVG and DAY are almost exactly the same distance from Lebanon in terms of drive time. Let the cheapest fare prevail.

On the whole, how many people camp vs. roughing it at the hotel? My initial thought is to pitch a tent and inflate my air mattress, as the stories of the last couple 944Fest bonfires are legend...

The simple fact that you own a tent and air mattress makes me think you know where you belong!
