Jason I bought the same breake calipers..all 4 but have heard I should not use the rear becouse I will not be able to get enough bias and will have way too much travel..is that the case and if so is there valves I should get or upgrade the master cylinder??? thank you.

PS..are you saying I won't have to replace my rear rotors and pads even with the 993 calipers?

When I did my '86 non-turbo to '86 turbo brake upgrade, I also bought a set of 16" fuch alloys. After getting all the brakes and suspension installed and finish, we bolted on the wheels. Lo and behold...the Fuchs did not work!!! The spokes hit the calipers as they were much wider than the original units, and the mating surface of the wheel and hub did not contact. Turns out that these were 911 Fuch wheels. So we tried putting on the stock 15" PD and to our surprise, they fit. Turned out that they are 951 part number and had the correct clearance for the calipers. All the the 15" PD with early offset that I have had (8 wheels, 2 complete sets), have 951 part number.

Dave,
The phone dials on Ashton's car have the same 951 part number you listed on page 2 of this thread.
Jason,
Thanks for the info on the rear calipers. I may not use those and leave the stocks in place...we'll see.

true.
they do have 951 part numbers...

about the rear calipers....why would you leave the stock ones on the back....thats just weird and sounds dumb...if the 993 can have those rear calipers than shouldnt my dads car? brake bias? so I geusse the 993 had more braking power in the rear?

(that was intented for no particular person)

on the other note....my car wouldnt look good with S2 calipers in front and N/A in the back.
or maybe I shouldnt put S2 brakes on the back because it would unbalance the brake bias!!

Campeck, not so dumb the suggestion to leave the calipers off the back of a 944. Next time you see a 993 have a look at where the motor (and weight) is, that will give you a clue why they have big rears

The photo of the stoppie is probably real, it is obviously Targa Tasmania and they like to include good photo opportunites. Here is a photo of a rear engined Lotus and you can even see a photographer in it.
