Wt vs Hp
This is for the racing bubba’s, talking to a friend today and he stated that reducing the cars weight by 6 pounds is the same as adding 1 Hp. So is that a true statement, has it been proven some way at the track?

If that's the case I've "added" 43 horsepower to my car. Don't get me wrong, I can tell it's lighter, but 260lbs doesn't feel like 43hp to me.

a 944 na with driver and fuel etc has a power/weight of about 20 lbs/hp
so for every 20lbs removed you might accelerate as if the car had 1 more hp...
obviously it would take a ton of weight reduction to add up to anything meaningful, and this is a very rough metric.
weight reduction done smartly will help with handling/braking/etc which helps in other ways.
a 2007 Z06 corvette has about 6lbs weight per 1 engine hp, so maybe your friend is referencing something like that

For anyone who hasn't driven a C6Z06....
You should!
They're mind blowing. The performance bargain of all time.
The fit and finish are nowhere near Porsche's league, but they make up for it with speed.
If 500 horsepower isn't enough, more is readily (and cheaply!) available, and with a decent set of tires they corner like crazy.
