See if any of you guys can beat this!!! After taking everything apart, I found the reason why the engine is locked up. These are pictures AFTER wd40 so just imagine what it looked like before. Danno, this is the reason why it did not require a flywheel lock to remove the crankshaft bolt.... maybe this block can be used as the candidate for what we discussed.
No water in it before, just all dry rust and corrosion. The liquid is WD40 in the pictures. Not sure what happened to it but the previous owner bought the car with the engine locked up. I would love to see someone top this kind of neglect and is a reminder why some "cheap" porsches can be so expensive.
Looking like that engine does, I'd be surprised if anything could be salvaged without serious work. Any steel surface would have to be rusted with all the corrosion on the aluminum. That really is incredible.
