I guess that depends upon how fussy you are about originality and stuff.

I haven't pulled mine apart yet, but I'm gessing that gasket is not a seal, but rather something to absorb NVH. If so, RTV should be just fine. I've used RTV in place of gaskets for a bunch of stuff including EGR and even header gaskets using copper RTV.

Sorry, I meant to distinguish plain aquarium-type silicone from the RTV-room temperature vulcanized stuff.

So wait, am I actually supposed to use some sort of sealant on the intake manifold gaskets? I thought when new they are supposed to go on dry.

You are correct, but I use a small amount of grease on mine, no sticking when you remove them.
