Default No car ---again

Yup..today I'm on the phone with Chyrsler asking about the recall and the rod bearings. I tell the guy I'm worried about them and asks if the sound is the sound of rod bearings (on Virutal Mechanic I've been asking the same

http://www.starquestclub.com/index.p...=display;num=1 085354921

I hear BANG and amazingly the car runs a litlte bit..oil EVERYWHERE and a little freakING ROD STICKING OUT OF MY BLOCK

He tells me its too late and hangs up.

Now I'm here. No car, no money for a new one, and no money for a replacement. I can't part out a car here (Homeowner Assoc.) and If I sell it I wont get crap.

Any ideas on w hat to do?

944 my mom has been "borrowing" and just put it on collecters insurance so noone under the age of 28 can drive it...

thats what ya get for letting family borrow cars you bought off of them (she was orginal owner..I bought it from her for 3K two years ago and she borrowed it last year..)

I dunno what to do

I wasn't aware of a recall on the crank bearings. I guess I need to run my VIN and see if that recall affected me....

On the ligher side, you should be able to pick up a good used longblock fairly inexpensively through either SQC or TriStarion, I've seen them floating around on occasion.

If you want a killer built block there's one on Trance's site for sale, the guy is asking $1500 but it's pretty well built with .020 over flat tops, new NJV head, and some other goodies. Check in the For Sale section there: http://starquest.i-x.net/cgi-bin/www.../wwwthreads.pl

Hey Jack, someone on SQC told me about that recall.

It def. sucks though..because I have about $2.50 to my name.

Know of any long blocks around the $500 mark?

I haven't paid much attention to the long blocks that have been floating around, other than that built one. I believe there was a car being parted on TriStarion though, I'd email that guy.

Also shoot a PM to 'Jeff' on TriStarion, he's got a few parts cars and I believe he lives in Penn, so not too terribly far from you.

If I had the money though, that engine on Trance's site really looks good:

Engine Specs

-2.6 bored .040 hyperutectic 9.2:1 (estimated) sealed power pistons (Compression test @ 1,100 miles yielded #1 178psi #2 179psi #3 180psi and #4 180psi.

-Brand new non jet valve mechanical valve head, new valves and studs were installed.

-ARP Head Studs

-Balance shaft eliminator kit

-Engine is fully balanced, from crank pulley to pressure plate!

-Top End Performance upgraded big mechanical cam

-FelPro complete gasket set-rebuilt Tbody as well when I built the engine.

-Ran valvoline 10w30 reg oil, changed @ 500 miles after build, and again @ 1,100 miles, then added 10w30 Mobil 1 full synthetic always use Pure 1 Purolator filters

-New ASC Water pump lifetime warranty via Advance Auto Parts

-New Dayco belts

Currently has 1,450 miles on it. Would take $1400+shipping Comes with everything but exhaust manifold/turbo for that price!
Only thing I really don't care for are the Hypereut's, they don't seem to hold up as well as the forged pistons available for our car, but still, you couldn't duplicate that engine for the amount of money he's asking. I almost wish I had a rod through my block right now, I'd have to find the money to buy that engine

Ummm, Mike.. Sorry to be an ***.. (I always regret posts that I start like that..why don't I stop NOW?) but why would you run your daily driver at 21psi and be surprised when you no longer have transportation? Face it.. at that boost level the chrysler recall has nothing to do with it. You've got no $$ to fix it, but ya had the $$ to boost it up.
Sorry bud, but if you want to crank up a turbo car to run 400HP you'll need either a backup/daily car or a big wallet. I'm trying to be nice about it, but you are responsible for blowing it up without a plan B. Ride the bus, save some $$ and buy a beater to drive when your hot rod grenades.

Take responsibility for it.. and don't make the same mistake twice.

Sorry for the rude truth, from an old guy..

(subject to edit when I regret being an ***)
