Anyone have a photo of where on the hatch the glass tends to separate and make noises??

I think your hatch needs new shocks.

The alternative is getting a 944S2 cabriolet, so you never have to buy hatch shocks again.

The shocks being bad wouldn't come into play once the hatch is closed...right? And my shocks hold up the hatch no problem, so they are fine.

Like the cab idea though!!

Yes it would, because the shocks extend while the hatch is closed, and new shocks keep the locking pins more firmly in place, preventing the up-and-down rattle that you're getting now.

My old shocks held up the hatch just fine on my 83 until I recently replaced them and you'd be surprised how hard it is to shut the hatch now. It's also much quieter than before.

Ree-heh-heeeeelyyyyy??

Interesting! I should order me some new shocks then. But isn't it these same shocks that push the glass away from the frame due to their stiffness!?

Yes, long term it's a Catch 22 situation. That's why people hate the 944 hatch and some even do away with them and go with a trunk lid instead, like me.

gotta put that in your sig so people dont mistake you for someone driving an optioned. Oh wait, I'm sorry. Your car has the rare wiper delete option to make the car go faster.

I never used the wiper in any of the five rx7 coupes i owned or on the S2. I dont like the streak the wiper makes on the rear window. Plus it is easier to get four tires in the hatch without the damn wiper motor getting in the way. If i ever buy another 944 and it has a rear wiper, i will trade hatches with you.

The ONLY time I used the rear wiper on any of my hatched-cars was to clear mist off the back window when backing up in the morning! Some rain-X on the rear is all you really need. No wiper - no problems back there (well, except for the hatch rattling)!

Looks cool without the wiper too, IMHO. More business-like!

It's along the top on mine. I fixed it a couple of years ago by filling the gap with silicone sealant. Putting silcone lubricant in there will only make it let go faster.

Have you checked to make sure your license plate mount is tight?

Wiper delete rocks!

Wipers are more trouble than they are worth.

Yeah, wiper delete does ROCK!

License plate is on there good. But it really might be the hatch shocks, rattling around! I'll order some new ones pronto!

before spending your $$ try stuffing a piece of foam between the hatch and the shock and see if you isolated the noise.
