Default Motor Mount Washers for 88 924S

Hi,

After 2 months of taking things apart I am finally starting to put the 924 back together.

Motor mounts were the last thing I took out. I found motor mount bolt each bolt had a thick (3-4mm) washer right under the bolt head. One bolt, the rear bolt on the passenger side also had one between the top of the motor mount and the bottom of the aluminum mounting arm.

From Auto Atlanta I found a diagram that only shows a washer on top of the mount only on the passenger side, but in the parts listing says 4 are required. This is washer labeled #13.

Do all the bolts get this washer? I could not find the thickness of this washer, when I took mine apart it was the same as the ones on top, but the drawing legend shows a different part number.

Any insight is helpful.

Thanks

Steven

- All bolts get the thick washer
- there should not be a washer between the motor mount and the aluminum arm
- if you look at the diagram you will see there is a washer/nut shown below the flange on the mount - that is the original style of mount which was superceded to the kind you can buy now with tapped threads in the mount. this change is what prompted the washer to get thicker, so that the bolt doesn't stick down too far and touch the rubber of the new style mount.

Thank you for the quick response. It did seem odd that the PO had placed a thick washer between mount and the aluminum arm. What really confused me was the porsche parts picture that shows a washer between the mount and the arm.

I had a look in AA's 88 924s catalog expecting to see something in the remark column to indicate what year the washer was used or not. This might appear as -87 or something like that. Nothing.

Thanks for looking!!

At this point I am just going to ignore the washer #13 as the new mounts are significantly higher than the ones coming out.

I have some new bolts that are a bit too long, so I will measure to see w if I need 38mm or 42mm length. Crossmember is almost cleaned, So with luck the engine will be on the new mounts tomorrow.

Washers in your picture (#7 and #13) are the same part number. So, like Spencer said, four of the either 7 or 13 on top of the arm, and four of the #8 washers under the mounts.

thanks for clarifying that 13 and 7 are the same part. The new mounts that I received have the top holes threaded, so I only need the 4 top washers.
