Buy one gallon of phosphate free, Prestone anti freeze, and one gallon of distilled water. The system can hold about 2 gallons.

Yep, you should ALWAYS used distilled water!

Now raise your hands, and show me how many of us REALLY DO that, lmao!

Um, in warmer climates, you can also use Redline Water Wetter, keeps your car a little cooler.

I use Dexcool, water and Redline water wetter. About two gallons, be sure to raise the front a little, like on a steep driveway, to bleed, bleed, and bleed. BTW have you gotten a radiator? PM me if you need one, I have a source that may be able to save you some $$

Might also consider using the blue/purple coolant from VW as it is much more close to the Porsche OE coolant from what I understand. FWIW, GM is being sued over the use of Dexcool, though I believe the issue to be the labels saying it never needs to be changed.

Never needs to be changed? I've only seen 5 year change intervals printed up.

It could be a suit over the corrosion junk. Bad stuff can happen with Dexcool when you have a bunch of air in the system/running low on coolant. Not exactly the greatest product for our cars and their infamous coolant bleeding issues.

Dan - they have printed labels and marketed the product as "Lifetime" coolant as well as the 5 yr stickers. ANYONE in the autobusiness will let you know that there is NO way coolant is good for 5 years.

Another hot button will be lifetime spark plugs or 10 yrs like Ford advertises.

There's nothing wrong with Dexcool, the automakers just overstated it's longevity and it's costing them dearly. Any coolant will become more acidic over time as the corrosion inhibitors are depleted. When coolant/water concentration ratios are low, aluminum is eaten up very fast if the mixture is old. Coolant should always be drained every year no matter what type it is.
