Default Baton

Looks like remnants of a wasp’s nest. I don’t think my 83 has a cable running through the frame like that. Where does this cable go and where does it come from? Speedo cable to L front wheel? TIA

You are correct Rich; that cable runs from the speedometer to the driver's side wheel. There's supposed to be a rubber grommet in that hole but it probably went missing decades ago.

Hamburg Technic. While not quite OEM quality, I've used them on a few cars with good results.

Nice work on the control arms. I need to get that done on my car. What's the difficulty level on that job?

On a scale of 1 - 5, I would say a 2.
Bring her up and we'll bang it out in my garage.

No problem at all. I'm not sure if you have my # so PM me if you want and we can talk about setting up some time.

The kit is new and made of polyurethane.

Oh wow! So is this a kit he sells, or did you have to special order it all as a set? That looks very convenient for a WYAIT.

It's a complete kit that Steve and Ian have assembled. It even includes all the hose clamps and nipple fittings. The fact that the J-hose (under the intake manifold) is also included makes the kit invaluable!

Thanks, I think I still have your # and will call later this week. I ordered the parts today. Do you recommend new hardware (nuts, bolts, washers)? I couldn't tell if you replaced or reused. Thanks, Chris

It would depend on the overall condition of the undercarriage (rusty or clean). You may want to, at least, purchase new ball joint securing bolts/nuts and front sway bar bushings/hardware, since that also has to come out.

A few small items were addressed the last couple of days:
- Replaced the front marker light gaskets, procured by Only 944 (thanks Kyle).
- Reinstalled both exhaust manifolds with all new studs/nuts & washers.
- Replaced a damaged clutch master to slave line, which led me to flush the entire hydraulic brake/clutch system. I found a couple nipples clogged so they were replaced as needed. While in there, I discovered a couple bent brake pad pins, a missing pad securing spring plate and badly damaged front wear sensors; all of which were corrected.
- I was notified, during purchase, that the windshield wipers did not return home and the intermittent feature was inoperable. The culprit turned out to be a missing wiper relay, of which a spare was installed - all better now!
- That broken brake booster check valve was replaced.
- More aftermarket cabling and devices were removed (a microphone and cell phone antenna from the 80's.
- And lastly, I spent some time to remove the front bumper in order to address an inherently common issue with our cars.

Both turn signal connectors were depinned so new grommets could be installed. This was an excellent opportunity to wipe down all areas behind the bumper and clean the spade (socket) connections.

What will be next...?
