S2 Values?
I was checking '87 911 Coupe prices (just dreaming, for now)...and S2 prices seem to be up over $12k for an excellent example (checking porsche-classifieds.com. Does that sound right? Should a nice S2 bring more than $10k?

Andy,
IMHO, I think $12k is a bit high for a 944S2: that's almost 968 territory!
However, like you mention, a well-sorted car like I assume you have should be able to fetch around $9k to $10k.
But why get rid of your car when you know that everything is sound in it?! And why trade an exceptionally well handling car for something that doesn't handle as well. (Shhhh - don't tell the 911 boyz! )

Not planning a defection right NOW Z, but it's good to know what my car is worth, just in case!
I've never even driven an older 911, but the ones I saw last week at the Concours really appealed to me--strange rear-engine handling and all! And the prices for a choice '87-88 are around $20k, fully updated and maintained. In other words, my car plus $10k...
I assume an older 911 will be a back-jarring, loud, un-refined car to drive too and from Jersey City. Marc...??

Everyone should own a 911 at least once in their lives. If nothing else, it will make you appreciate just how good 944s (and 928s) really are!

I used my 911 for 2 months as a commuter, it was fun! and I have a pretty stiff suspension in it.
I like the 951 much better as a daily driver.

Next time Marc! Like you said, the '87's have the 944-style hydrolic clutch...making shifting easier/smoother.
Still, everyone says an S2 will easily out-handle a stock 911...I just think going straight in a 911 would be more fun for some reason.

Since I don't drive at the limits...I assume I won't notice the handling differences as readily as you or the other DE dudes! I just enjoy being able to take a turn around the corner quickly while my wife holds her breath! And the ability to look at my speedo in shock when I see I'm going 80 when it feels more like 40!
A 911 should do that, with the added sound of a flat 6 3 feet behind your head, no?

I think $12k is fair for even an S2 coupe if it's in really good shape, but maybe I'm just saying that to try to justify the fact that I've already spent $13k on mine (which I originally bought for like $7.5k).
