www.eurowebparts.com is one place with pretty good prices. I get most of mine parts there since it's right here in town. Welcome to Rennlist

Lowest price you will find on a water pump is from Zims:

www.allzim.com

Do you know if your water pump has been updated?

My waterpump is the original waterpump that came with the car. It's 16 years old and has never been updated

By the way are the waterpumps listed on those sites the factory Porsche Waterpump? I am not interested in aftermarket waterpumps.

Make sure it comes with the gasket. Nothing worse that getting a weekend open to do a WP and belts, rollers and seals.. and no freakin' gasket..

Zims, Tweeks, Paragon, Performance, Pelican. Check around. You may get a 10% discount as a new customer.

There are no aftermarket WP's. only NOS ($$$$.$$)and rebuilt. Rebuilt is fine. The 924S has the upgraded WP (Turbo) already, so note the difference. Make sure you get a new thermostst as well

Yes new thermostat is so much easier to replace when you have the pump in hand rather then on the car.

My 1987 924s did not have the updated water pump.

Modification of the rear cover is necessary, as well as buying a new belt guard (since this is not included as part of the water pump kit, since they expect you to re-use the old guard).

You want to order the thermostat seal along with the thermostat, and all new hardware (bolts/nuts).

There is a question of whether you want to order an 80 or 83 degree thermostat. 83 was stock, but my car behaves much better with the 80 degree thermostat. I posted where this can be ordered from in a previous thread.

I believe my waterpump isn't leaking and still working properly, but since it's so old, I want to change it out to prevent failure in the future. But after reading some posts on here, people say that changing out a good working waterpump for a rebuilt one could do more harm than good. Any comments on this?

I got a price quote from my Porsche mechanic and he wants to charge me around $200 for a Rebuilt Porsche waterpump. He also claims that its built better than the original pump and is also mechanically better. I need inputs on rebuilt pumps!

200$ for a rebuilt pump is pretty high you can find new ones around that amount. The water pump was updated it doesn't have a plastic impeller now. Rebuilt should cost around 80-125$ depending who rebuilt them and the place selling. Then you have the new ones I think are around 200-250$.
