Default Check cam timing..

What’s the easiest way to check to see if the cam is in time on a 2.5?

Manually turn the engine (clockwise from front) until the cam pulley mark lines up in the window. Check opening in lower bellhousing to see if notch in flywheel aligns.

Is that pic with your crank at TDC? I sure hope not! Here's a pic with the cam marks aligned, the rotor points down, #1 all the way up

Yes, that’s with the crank at TDC..

The notch in the cam pulley is painted white, you can see in my pic..

Engine has like zero compression..

Car I bought.. Knew it didn’t run.. “No spark”, heh..

Bought it for parts but it’s so nice I almost decided to fix it up..

This is kindof a relief though because now I can just part it like I planned and not have to worry about fixing it up..

I'm assuming the car has blown rubber clutch disk center too, since the engine drive does not connect to the rear wheels in any gear..

Therefore I'm assuming the clutch disk is what put this car down, and then some people messing with it bent the valves trying to get it to run..

With the car this far out on timing I don’t think you can actually “pull it through” with the valve interference. The valve would be bottoming out on the piston head, preventing it from going any farther? Right? Unless there is a “window” in which although completely out of time the pistons could sneak by?

Either way if this car is truly at TDC, this is a mess…

I would have thought it would be making all sorts of clatter but no..
Turns over basically silently, as if it had no spark plugs in it..

Maybe we will see inside some day..

When you have a valve/piston interference event, the valve bends and then is out of the way and never is hit again. That's why it is quiet now.

I’m not going to start tearing it apart anytime soon and I still might end up fixing it if I come to believe that it would make financial sense to fix it and sell it..

I pulled the front seats, brought them inside, cleaned them, and have been applying leather conditioner periodically..
They are coming along nicely..

Yeah..
I want to get opinions as to if it makes sense to fix given its few cosmetic/body problems..

Thing is, lightning struck our well so I don’t have water to wash it right now..
Not that it’s really all that dirty..
