Looks like you are going to be right, and I'm going to be wrong on this one. Such is 944 life. PET lists 944 615 223 00 as "relay, fog headlamp." I'll assure you it is not on the schematic in any way shape or form. Unfortunately, only those that have their car wired up with this relay will be able to help you sort this out.

I'll be back to where my 944 is this weekend. Where, exactly, is this relay located on your car? I'll have a look to see if it is present on my car.

(personal lament...) There is so much missing on the schematics for the early cars. Alarm, mirrors, washers, oil level sensor.

On my car this one was up near the gas pedal linkage under the dash.

FYI - early cars didn't have an oil level sensor (not until IIRC 1987), so that's why it's not shown in any schematics

I wonder if the OP's early car got a replacement pan, or whole bottom end from a later car at some point?

Default Aux fan relay

Thanks for the comments guys! My pan and engine are original to my car. It’s an 83…so no oil quantity sender or dash light/ gauge. One less thing to go on the fritz. I have considered getting a later pan with the sensor arrangement. But more pressing things are going on now related to the wiring harness. (es). So I need to get onto those issues.

I looked at my early '85 last weekend, and it has that double fog light relay up under the dash. I had earlier mistaken it for the oil level sensor, which apparently my car does not have. The early PET lists a retrofit kit which includes a double relay for the oil sensor. I had thought that they just included them in all the US cars because we are potentially less pedantic about checking the oil level than other countries.
