Default Fan Control **** Not Working

Hi everyone, my fan **** has recently stopped working on my 86 951. No matter what setting it's on, no air blows through. There was an instance a couple days ago where the air started coming out, but it seems as if it's bit the dust for good now. Where is a good place to start in diagnosing this? All help is appreciated!

Bad heater fan, bad wiring to fan, blown fuse to fan (fuse 14), bad HVAC controller?

That happened to me once. I unplugged the wires from the switch. They didn't look dirty at all. I sanded them down and plugged the wires back on. That fixed it. Been working fine for about 5 years now. Good luck.

If the **** doesn't click when you turn it pull it off and see if the square shaft clicks when you turn that. If so then the internals of the **** are probably broken

If it only runs at high, it is the fan resistor.

If it doesn't run at all, I would check the fuse. But of course it is never the fuse. Because that would be too easy!

Check voltage to the fan.

I've actually had the fan control **** break so that I only had high blower, however cleaning the little temp breaker(s) in the HVAC fan resistor unit (pictured above) is a great thing to do. I put a drop of acid on the contacts with them held open and then rinsed and dried. The 968 has one of these and the 944/2 has a pair, visible when the resistor assembly is easily lifted out of the HVAC air intake.
