Who wants to go on a "Cannonball Run" with a 944?
Okay, people...I know this is at the last moment, but there is a modern day Cannonball Run!
No, not talking about the Gumball Rally - I'm talking about Player's Run, www.playersrun.com
There isn't going to be much speeding, unless it's with a high speed Police Escort! It's about the drive, the comraderie, AND there will be the model team driving the H2, lol.
This will televise worldwide, from what I have been told.
I have been trying to get into this for months, and was asked earlier this week to drive a Testarossa 512TR, but the dealership pulled out, that was sponsoring me as a co-driver.
Anyhow, got this just a little bit of go this morning,
People, this is a big deal for our cars! No other 944 or 951 has EVER been asked to be in this! They told me this week that they only had positions left for Mercielagos and an F40, or something.
Out of Porsches, they normally want a 996TT!
Eyal has graciously offered his 951 with him, but that leaves the entry fee of $12K and gas, and car transport to NY, along with airfare one way.
Of course,if someone has the money and a fine example of our car, they would be also considered.
With permission, a sponsor banner(s) will be allowed on the car. I thought "Rennlist" should be one of them.
The run is from New York to LA, in 7 days, along with Helicopter rides, etc. First rate hotels, etc. in the price. Also, on a DVD.
Yeah, at the worst, I will do it next year, but it is sooo much fun, thought I'd see if anyone was interested in helping out with this, and show them that our little 944s/951s CAN keep up with not only their big brothers, but with Ferraris, Lambos, McClarens, etc!!
VIVA LA 944!!

Julie,
I spoke with Markus - there aren't any open co-driver seats open right now, but he did approve the 944 or 951 as a contestant (conditionally), if you guys want to enter. Please let me know asap if you guys want to enter and I will talk to markus. I'll need to know in the next day or so.

Bloodraven, I know - we all would like to do it!
Dukes of Hazard's General Lee will be in it, with Bo, too!
Like I said, worst case scenario, I will put it together for next year.

Damn, ide love to! I dont have the money. And if i spent 12k at this point on a driving event instead of my band, they would break my arms!
However, do you think PCNA would be interested in sponsoring, maybe a local dealership in your area. Or from here? Or even lending a used car. (like an old lease-mobile) If you can get funding, but need a co-driver, let me know! (whats the likely hood of finding funding with out a co-driver?)

To drive, or not to drive!
Tony, your band would trounce your ***, if you donated that kind of money! I would, lol.
Eyal has offered his 951 and himself as a co-pilot, so that's what I'm trying to sell as a package.
But on top of finding funding, we also need spare parts, ie, headgaskets, hoses, thermostats, waterpumps, things like that for the support team to have to fix us up. And a wheel lock, lol.
Hacker-Pschorr, your idea is great! But I don't think we can find that kind of money so fast.
But this gal is trying, lol!
Just glad to see so many people interested. Maybe next year will be a reality.

Funny you post this.
The guy who bought my old 944 will be in this race. He has a 93 M5 that is the primary car....but my 944 is his backup. He will be doing quite a bit of work to it (kinda like Pimp My Ride..hah). He will be rolling through Denver with it so I've been invited to go see it and party with everyone.
Should be a blast

Will, that's pretty funny! So, the guy with the Lambo was just after having sex with me...sheesh, don't they learn!? Ya can't buy me, lol.
Sadly, I just can't come up with that kind of money on such a short notice.
If next year's is about the same price, I'm interested. But I don't want to do much more than that, unless the pay off is REALLY big!
