Hmm, might have to do the filter/exhaust. How loud is it without the cat?
Is that rear wheel horsepower, or is that a corrected dyno?

Yes boost good, that's the other car!
Planning a 3.0l turbo with that one... might be done next year.

Nice strong car!

The stock figure is 208 hp and the factory engines had 100-110% of that figure. Less or more would not pass the quality check. And if you calculate with a 10% loss to the wheels which is more common than a whole 15% (auto gear number) you are at exactly the stock level.

Your curve could be better though, but the dyno isn't worth anything without a stock one to back it up. So swap the chips and do a stock measurement - I'd sure like to know what a stock S2 puts out.

Cheers,

Yep
Anders is right. To really know how much HP the firehawk chip got you MUST do back to back dyno runs with and without the chip. Anything is just "nice" to know.

For example... my stock turbo S put down 230 whp on the dyno.

So since you are at 190 or 40 hp down. If I am really at 250 at the flywheel then you are at 210 hp at the flywheel. Right back at stock.

So what is the "right" drive train loss factor? Heck nobody really knows. That is why the back to back is so important.

Plus I have friend that lost 2hp on a dyno becuase he ran lower tire pressure.

Don't you guys realise that throttle bodies are the way to go for large amount of NA power?

You can get huge amounts of power with them, although you'll pay several thousand to buy them, there's nothing to stop you getting an extra 150bhp easily, and probably more then that with different cams etc. Gas-flowing can release many 10's of bhp too.

There is no way you can get that much extra hp out of a larger or better throttle body. You need some sort of forced induction to add that many ponies to a 2.5ltr 8V (or 3.0 16V).

Here are some more 944 S2 dyno charts: http://www.weissach.net/DynoResults-2002-09-07.html

Dal/Larry: If you guys have no objections, I'd like to add your dyno charts to that webpage.

I'd be amazed (and delighted) if it could be done.

Here's a list of folks supply throttle bodies for 944/968 cars: http://www.weissach.net/Suppliers_92...tleBodies.html

If anyone knows of other suppliers, please let me know.

Loonyjuice is joking right?? I sure hope so......

A TB is only needed with a cam upgrade or if you rev the motor much higher......

karl you can use that if you like...

I'd also find a comparison to the stock chip very interesting, I may need one of those chips sometime too!

Looneyjuice: I always thought you could easily double hp w/ the right throttle body??!!, -your numbers are way low.

Last time I heard about that chip somebody was saying they could get copies of them for like $500...pretty steep but for almost 20 hp??
Well, yes and no. It's kind of dangerous to generalize since the numbers can fluctuate greatly from car to car. Temperature, brand of dyno, brand of tires, air pressure, humidity, barometric pressure, elevation...I've seen identical cars with identical setups differ by almost 20% before.

But it sure worked for him and his car on that particular day. 500 bucks though, I dunno...a chip is a chip (and costs about 15 bucks to copy). But hey, if money ain't no thang but a chicken ****...!
