Default 84 rear quarter fit an 83?? :)

Just checking, My left rear quarter is banged up on my 83, not sure if an 84 will fit, it does have what I think is a key thing in the fender, I think that was for power doors or something. Course mine does not have power locks. Thanks for any help

The key thing you are talking about is for an alarm system , and unless I am reading this wrong you are saying you want to replace the rear quarter but that is a part of the actual body and am not sure how you are going to do that.

the damage I have is by the lense, so I think I can just swap the rear quarter out.

That looks like it was cut from the car, look at one of the many part cars on this site its a part of the chasse. You would have to do alot of welding to get it on. Will some one else chime in and please help this guy.

Thats how most 1/4's are done

Are you gonna have a shop do it? Your gonna have to repaint it , as its gonna scorch the paint around where you welded it.

It can be done, but only by a very very experienced shop. It would be a lot cheaper to have the dent pulled out and repaired. You have a "frameless" car. The rear quarter is actually a structular part of the entire car. Even having this done by a pro, you are still weaking the structure with the welds. All of that welding and cutting has to be patched up. If you are just cutting out a small section, and tacking in. That is different. If You plan on replacing the whole quarter, for one dent, you will be wasting your money. There is no unbolting the rear quarters. It will have to be cut out using a plasma cutter. Let me sum this up. DON'T CUT THE REAR QUARTER OUT!!!!!

Phew thanks a lot for the help, I almost bought the rear quarter. The only thing is that I dont have the moola right now to paint the whole car, and my paint is getting a tad old, could I still get the dent repaired, and painted, without it looking too bad, since my paint is aged?? Now I have to work on that damn front valence, bent and cracked. I hope I can just get my front valence and the dent repaired and painted, and it wont look too bad.

Post a picture of the dent. I know that I'll get a lot of sh>> for this, but some of the national chains, do a good job. You just have to make sure that they don't paint all of the rubber trim. In other words, take it apart and tape it up your self.
