Default Where is the best place to park for the Long Beach Grand Prix?

I have tickets for the Long Beach Grand Prix on Sunday.

I'm driving up from San Diego, it seems like the parking is a fiasco over there.

There's some kind of light rail / bus system up there, right? Is there somewhere a few stops away on the train where I can park, then take the train in? I am trying to get in gate on the marina side of the track.

Thanks!

You can park by my place if I happen to have one held with my bike at the time. . . I usually try to "snag" an open space and park my motorcycle in it so I have one when I get home, then just stop, pull the bike out, pull in, and then park the bike behind it until I see another open one. . . It's a nightmare, but that's just part of the joy of not being able to afford a house around here.

Personally I'll be happy when this is all over though; parking is enough of a zoo around here normally without having to fight all the race fans for our coveted spots too! PM me if you're interested.

You could park anywhere down towards Belmont Shores and just take the red buses - they're clean, reliable and only 90 cents. I'll give you details if you want.

OK, I found this site on the maps:

http://www.lbtransit.com/maps.html

http://www.lbtransit.com/system_map.html

It looks like I could take the A or D bus from Belmont Shores to the Pine Avenue Circle (Pine at First).

Do you have an idea of which stop would have a big parking lot where I could get a space. Free would be best, but I don't mind paying something reasonable.

Alamitos Bay Landing
Market Place
2nd at Park
Ocean at Cherry
Pine at 1st St.

Thanks for your help with this!

Yep, that's right - A or D will work. Anywhere in Belmont shores is fine, there are people around all the time so no worry about break-in or theft and the meters aren't enforced on Sunday. Just get in town early and find a spot there, grab the A or D bus and go where you were going to. Plus Belmont Shores has all the cool dining places for afterwards and they won't be as mobbed as the ones on the Pike here in Long Beach.

If you need anything, just PM me, I'll give you my cell #.

Porsche-O-Phile,

Thanks for the advice! The bus was super-easy and well organized, parking was simple to find and the price was right (free!).

Great day at the track.
