Everyone on this thread lies. Unquestionably the best performance upgrade you can do to these cars is to upgrade the nut behind the steering wheel.

Safe DE on a track with an experienced instructor is the best bag for the buck by a long way for getting the most performance out of these cars.

The fixes you suggest it offers are things I recognise from my 944 so engine mounts are now on the list... the cost will dictate where on the list mind you!

Well... I’ve got the Meyle mounts. Ask me again in a year. I’ve had bad luck with a couple of URO parts. My oil pressure sensor crapped out after a few months (1/3rd the price of the Porsche part). And the FPR also ended up having to be replaced with the Porsche part. That one was pricey. The Bosch unit is impossible to find.

The Meyle the PO of my car installed was collapsed by the time I got it. (Car had only 68K miles on it.) The original on the other side was still fine, but then the Meyle was on the "hot" side, so who knows how much that factors in.
It all depends, I suspect, on what you money tolerance vs. do-it-again tolerance is. (I went with OEM mounts.)

The Meyle will be below spec within 6-12 months and totally trashed by 18 months. The Porsche will last at least 10 years usually much more.

Everyone thinks they are great drivers and it’s the car that’s lacking when in fact 100% of the time it’s the driver (…the nut behind the steering wheel). Folk won’t hesitate to spend thousands on performance parts and not a penny improving driver performance.

944 handles fine, even with an amateur driver...but it needs more guts, period.

regarding motor mounts, interesting data point from 2-3 years ago - i got a set of free mounts from Uro after telling them mine had completely collapsed (over 10 years old at that time)
they apparently hadn't heard of any issues from 944 owners...so if youre having bad luck, tell the MFRs...

my 944 has two uro engine mounts for 6 months and for now. Here in Spain we all use the uro brand in water pumps, engine mounts and dme relays. The water pump of my 944 I put it laso porsche used brand laso in water pumps.
