Default Bad accident. My 944 is gone. RIP

I posted this thread in the 996 forum, since that's where I mostly hang out. But this is what happened to my 944 yesterday:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...45#post1200645

Such a shame and waste. I won't get a fifth back of what I put into it. I feel like I lost a family member.

I'm a strong supporter of the "Seniors must repass the drivers test" theory. But then again, they have to get around just as much as I do so whatever... It's shame that happened to your car though...

Really sorry to hear about your loss and glad you're OK.

It never ceases to amaze me how strong these cars are. I hope you find another nice 944 soon, but I doubt it will be a 1983, as only 5,506 of those cars reached U.S. shores and most of the cars out there today are not quite as well cared for as yours appeared to be.

At least you can open the door to your 996 still...

WHOA!
I´m so glad nothing serious happend to you!!
This could have been worse to your health.
This looks like an really serious accident.

The car will be replaced anyway, maybe by a nice 951, so don´t worry about that.

The 996 is new to me and much more easily replaceable. The 944 had so much history and character. It's a terrible loss. Obviously the most important thing is that I was able to walk away from such an accident. The other drive was so reckless though that I think he should be subject to criminal action.

That's tuff. Sorry you'll lose your investment. Next time you might consider agreed value insurance. It's rough to spend big bucks to build your dream, then some poor old man trash it for you. If it was his fault, I'd get me a good lawyer, try to find all my receipts or have it appraised by a knowledgable expert, and sue for your investment.

Sorry for the loss. You've obviously put a lot of work into the car keeping it going fo so long. Glad to hear you're alright.

Looks like you were lucky and not wearing seatbelts during the accident....

Terrible terrible terrible...
Take that guy's license away!
One time I got hit, I asked to see the guy's license, and I snapped it in half!
Bastard

Sorry, you brough up old memories!

I hear you, I know what it's like to lose a car... you can never replace something like that, but best of luck to you on finding another one to join your family.

Bet you'll never drive without your seatbelt again though.

Yes they do. How about supporting an "everyone must repass the driver's test" movement? Hell, it might be safer out there for some idiots to have to refresh their memory about how to driver every 2-3 years.

I know what you mean. I have a 91 Sentra SE-R (original owner) that has been off the road for a while, but when it's running again (I pulled the engine) it won't see much driving because it's so hard to replace. Every time I read about one being totalled I think about my car. New cars, OTOH, are relatively simple to replace. You get your insurance check (after fighting with them) and you get another one. Cars they don't make anymore are difficult to replace, and when you've invested blood, sweat, and tears into it, it's irreplaceable.

Sorry about your car. Really stinks. I experienced much the same thing a little over a year ago. I had a turbo G20 that I did a magazine article on (about the engine swap) and I had a lot of time invested in it. So close to being finished. Then a young lady exited the freeway and cut across three lanes of traffic to enter a gas station right at the exit of the freeway. Well, I happened to be driving by at the time. Took out my car and one other. I also got a nice concussion out of it from my head hitting the door jamb. I feel your pain. Good luck.
