Default Tweeks Turbo frontend conversion?

Has anyone used the turbo front end made for N/A's. Does it fit well? Can you use a splitter on it? I have a 88 944S and I wish it had the turbo front.
I got to see one the other day and it looks so much better.

Its a bitch to fit, I'd get a 951 header panel, headlight covers, fenders, and nose

He hasn't done it, but he's probably answering that based on my threads.

Here, read this. My user name there is almost the same as here, BlueQuestTSi.

Do you have any pictures of your car finished? I would like to see the end result of all that work.

Yes, they do. The fit is less than optimal. It is flatter in the front, so using a splitter intended for a 951/S2 is out. Won't fit.

Besides the fit issues and the waviness of the piece, the other problem is safety. In order to make sure your car can absorb a 1mph impact without totalling it, you want to source a 951 bumper support bracket and the shocks. Then this support piece will need to be slightly modified in order to fit behind the repro piece, and the cover piece itself needs a little material removed near the center (this is all from my experience before I gave up on this route and ditched my Tweeks bumper cover).

If you want go go for a turbo/S2 bumper (which I think looks great and I think that if Porsche continued to produce the 944 after 89 they would have made it standard), I would get a real one. You'll need quite an impressive list of 951 parts to make it work (70% you would already need anyway to make the fake one work).

1. bumper cover
2. bumper bracket
3. bracket shocks
4. turn signals
5. fog lights
6. header panel
7. headlight covers
8. fenders*

Now, the fenders may not really be needed, depending on your bodywork prowess or if you know a good bodyman. Chris ("fty") did this conversion recently and proved my theory that the 944 fenders can be modified in the front to fit. That is what I will be doing shortly myself. I should be done with this project within the next 5-6 weeks, I can take photos of every step and document a tutorial for anyone who may be interested. I have amassed part# 1-7 above, plus a few little "extras" .

Take care,

Jeremy

Nope, she's not finished yet. I've still got some fabricating to do, and little imperfections to work on before it gets sent to the paint shop.

Once that's all done, I'll have some finished pictures. As I can't wait to get this project done.

I have an aftermarket turbo nose and rear valence on my 85.5 N/A (red one below). It's not a Tweeks, but it fits quite well. I believe Performance in CA also has a turbo nose. What'll kill ya is the cost of the damn lights!

Do you have any close-up's of it, and do you know where it came from?

I'll see what I can dig up tomorrow. I'm not sure where it's from, the PO had it installed. The car was originally bought in Knoxville, TN, sold in Jacksonville, FL, so I would assume it came from the SE somewhere. This would've been in the late 80's. I'll crawl under it tomorrow and see if I can find any markings.
