Question Looking at purchasing 944, ?service manuals here?

Just wondering if there are service manuals stored on this site. Looking at a 944 that is leaking fuel from somewhere on top of fuel tank. Seller states it's "a rubberized vent." Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome!
There are no factory manuals here, as they are copyrighted material. However, I think over the years just about every question you can possibly image has been asked, you just have to use the search function.
There is a "How to" forum, https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-133/
The factory parts list is online, that may be of use to you - https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...artscatalogue/
Scroll down, select 944, and then the year you're looking at.
Lastly, there is still Clark's garage, a sort of online manual for fixing the most common things - http://www.clarks-garage.com/
On the left frame select "Garage shop Manual"

The factory service manual isn't likely going to tell you what to do about your issue anyway, so I wouldn't bother with it. As said by Kurt R there's lots and lots of information here if you're willing to use the search function. Fundamentally, all you have to do is figure out how to drop the fuel tank. Once out just replace all the rubber lines you have access to and inspect the rest. When the tank itself is reassembled, rig up some stuff to pressure check it before you put it back in. It shouldn't be difficult, just time consuming.

There are service manuals on CD for sale on Ebay and as noted above, are certainly boot leg/pirated. And everything said above is true. Tempest glossed over the fact that you have to drop the transaxle to get to the fuel tank to drop it.

You didn't state what year the car is. If it's an early car, there are lots of threads on here about the metal fuel tanks 82-85.5. There was a big model change in 85.5. those tanks are all plastic. After a while the metal tanks pretty much rust out and have to be repaired. Not so much with the plastic tanks. To access either one from the top to get a look-see at them, you'll have to remove the rear carpet and the underlayment. If you're lucky it's just a rubber hose. If you're not, then there's a lot of work ahead of you to pull the tank. HTH some. Good luck and keep us posted! Welcome to the group, BTW.

Kurt's right about this forum being a superior source over the factory WSM, but it's also true you should have a copy of it for backup anyway. As he mentions, Clarks Garage is also outstanding. I ended up selling my complete hardcopy sets of factory 914, 924, 928 and 944 manuals and replaced them with PDF versions I can keep with me anywhere I go. Quality of the PDFs vary so expect to buy a few copies until you find one that's acceptable. Generally they're very inexpensive compared to factory originals so you can afford to go through a few before you find one you can work with?

I keep my factory books just because my PDF copies (which get the majority of use) have some pictures with really poor contrast. I never thought to try a few other PDF versions to see if I could find a better one....
