I am working on a 931 that I have had but not driven more than warming it up every 6 months. I pulled the injectors and ordered new ones with what was listed as the O rings. Looking at lots of Porsche CIS photos, its seems like the boss/insert/holder varies by model and year somewhat.
This is what I pulled out:
Injector threaded through
Copper washer into
Brass insert in
Phenolic inster in
Cylinder head
I can tell air was getting in and some of the inserts didn't seem fully seated. FOR SEALS THERE WAS ONLY A COPPER WASHER BETWEEN THE INJECTOR AND THE BRASS INSERT. Nothing below the insert (direct phenolic face to cylinder head).
In looking at various photos I see rubber orings under injector but those seem to be in inserts where the injector pushes inside the insert and not threading into the top of the insert. Some photos show a seal/ring under the insert which could work but then the spacer would be tightened on the O ring and there really isn't a relief on the bottom of the spacer for the O ring to slide into.
Here is a photo of what I pulled out. I guess first question may be are these the right inserts. Second question is where does the rubber O ring go.
I’m pretty sure the rubber o rings are for non-turbo injectors that do not thread in..
Turbo injectors thread in and use the copper crush washers to seal..

Thanks Eddie for confirming. I will get it put back together.
