Don't have ramps or stands...
so to bleed the clutch (the old fashioned way) can I just jack the car up and leave it there? Would it hurt anything?

Front end.
Two jack stands would be sufficient. Probably would not hurt to have a piece of wood, or maybe a brick, (if you didn't want to buy one) for a wheel chock.

If you are going to bleed the clutch the old fashion way, which I assume means a helper working the clutch, good luck! You will need it.
You do want the rear end higher than the front. I'm actually not sure you can lift only the rear end a reasonable height with the front on the ground and have enough clearance to crawl under the car to get at the slave bleed nipple.
In any event, good 4 point base jack stands are failry cheap at the local AutoZone or PepBoys and someone always has a sale on them so I would go that route. You could also stick some big logs or railroad timbers under the car if you want to be really cheap. Put whatever in the support locations and drop the hydrolic jack on the supports. Our cars are so low that if you don't have fixed supports and the hydrolic jack fails you are a dead man or a vegetable if your brain doesn't squish out too much through your crushed skull.
And don't use concrete building blocks as a support. Those can crack and drop the whole car down on you.

Get the big jackstands at harbor freight tools for $12 a pair (if I remember right). My uncle knew someone who died from a collapsed jack dropping a car on top of him.

You're going to need to make yourself a power bleeder if you dont allready have one. Using the helper method is great for brakes but awful for the clutch. Don't even try the hand held vacuum pumps.

Its not worth the risk to try it without qaulity jack stands. Buy some and stick other stuff under there in case they fail.
And I second ot third the power bleeder reccomendation. Its the best $45 you can spend on tools. Much easier than the two person method.

I don't trust a jack to hold up the car while working under it....use something.....I bled my new clutch slave the old fashioned way with a helper and it worked fine...no problems...

FWIW, I've had two jacks crap out on me in the past. They went bad when I was jacking the car up. Certainly wouldn't trust one to hold up the car, even if I wasn't going under. But, I'm paranoid about that stuff, even with 4 jack stands and two ramps just to lift the front of the vehicle
