So the previous owner of my 944 did a "muffler delete" read: he chopped off the muffler and never extended the pipe the rest of the way out. So I've been looking for a replacement. Would a muffler assembly (pipe, flange, muffle, exhaust tip) off a 944 s/s2 fit an 83 944? I'd assume it's the same flange and bolt set up, but I wanted to confirm.

Flange dimensions and pipe diameter are each different between early 944 and 944 S2.

If you are OK with generic stuff, you might try Rock Auto. I bought a cat from them for my 85 and as far as I can remember, it fit up fine.

Where are you located?
Lots of 944 parts guys around the country with good used stuff.
Heck, if you're near Nashville you can have my cat and muffler section from my early 85 for idunno, $50?
