The guy only has 6 feedbacks, all from sellers. He has never sold himself yet. I think we should do something just for using your pics, including the one of your vin decal!

One other thing strikes me as curious. He has the bids marked as private...

Here's my idea:

Bid it up real high and win the auction (we can help). There is nothing in the auction that says you can't come pick up the car and pay in cash. Since you have to be pre approved, e-mail him and agree to do whatever he says (wiring a deposit or whatever). When the auction ends just tell him you've changed your mind if he said that you have to wire a deposit or something, and tell him you'll pick it up personally and pay in cash. He won't agree to that because there is no car, and then he'll be stuck with the ebay fees for selling the car. If ebay contacts you you can tell them that after the end of the auction you were proudly showing the finished auction to a friend, who pointed out that ad stating the car had been sold over a year ago with the same mileage. It looked fishy to you so you wanted to confirm that you would get the car before sending money.

hah kevin thats great. except why dont you just tell ebay its your car. when they email you? plus its funy if we bid it up to like 100000, woudlnt it be like a thousand dollars in ebay fees because they take some percentage of final price? lol

I just sent the seller an e-mail. Let's see what happens first and then I may enlist more help to bid up the auction.

Unfortunately, this is probably a hijacked account -- so the person who gets screwed with the insertion fee is the person who actually own the account, rather than the actual seller. And I think it's only $40.

Me too, I'm happy to place a bid or two.

Devon, that's exactly what I meant, though I don't think we should bid much past 30,000 because he might realize something is funny.

Hmm just bid it up to whatever amount so 70,000$ then when the auction is done you don't have to do a thing legally since you already have the car so you pay yourself that money . He can't say anything to ebay and he will be stuck with the fees if ebay asks you anything just tell them that you did the deal and you have the car. It's your vin there and you have the car in your name so you bought it from him

Oh, and if eBay asks -- I'll just show them a copy of the title with the VIN and all: "Yes, I have the car now -- thank you very much"

I'll bid on it too to help you out - just let me know. . . You have the title free & clear, right? No liens or anything on it that he could be using to try and take posession on it by?

Yeah, that's even better than my idea, just tell them that the deal was completed.

Yep -- free & clear title. I'm sure he's doing nothing more than using my pics to run his scam. Little does he know, heh, heh, heh....

I think the name of the game is going to be for me to try get some contact info for the guy -- even if it is a Western Union account. No real damage can be done if he keeps using aliases. I'm still waiting for the guy to put me on the approved bidding list -- then the fun can begin!

Even better send him money for the car (deposit should work) through USPS and let the feds deal with him for federal mail fraud!
