If you don't want to cry tonight, don't look at this 944

It looks like a candidate for a track car... or maybe just a parts car, who knows. He could have at least taped plastic over the window to keep the weather out! How disrespectful.
I have over 164k on mine with the original clutch as far as I and the PO know of. Though it's not spring centered, I do have a hot crossover pipe trying to rob me of my original pressure plate!
Wade, if you're listening, your car looks fabulous! As RacingPorsche said, I wish mine would look that good at twice her age! How did you ever manage to put that many miles on one rubber-centered clutch?!?!

Just a little story to make you cry. An aquataince in my area bought a 1989 944 turbo a few years back. The car was by no means concours but it was in good shape with the usual wear and tear of a 80,000 mile car. Anyway, to make a long story short, I had not seen the guy in about a year and a half. he just happens to pull into a gas station I was filling up at. The car used to be a beautiful gaurds red, now it was more of a dull orange color. The muffler was completely rotted through and look like a peice of swiss cheese hanging from the bottom of the car. As far as the interior of the car, it looked like it had not seen a vacuum since the last time I saw the car.
He went on to tell me a story about why his back bumper was crushed in and how he was waiting to fix it. Also he told me that he had bottomed out on a pot hole and broke one of the factory jack points off the bottom of the car. When I looked at it the wheel that was closest to where the jack point was nocked off the car looked suspicously like it had some caster problems. The tires on the car were so bald they could have been mistaken for slicks. and when he drove off the throw out bearing would sing every time he tapped the clutch. It just made me sad to see such a fine automobile neglected.

I can't believe you posted pics of that car. I live in Nyack and tried buying it also. The shop told me the car belonged to a customer who never picked it up. Seeing that car in the winter with snow inside was depressing. Last summer I noticed weeds growing through the interior and outside the open window. What a shame.....
