Default Blaupunkt Madison

Anybody else have this model of Blaupunkt ?It does not seem like this model Blaupunkt is common at all. I looked long and hard for a single CD tuner that would match the classic interior of the 944. Its hard to find such a radio since most radios being sold all look high-tech with dancing lights, etc.. It just does not go with the interior IMO. Then I got this on ebay. I think it looks nice and very OEM, the lights also match the dash lights exactly.

Your funny

I tried to search ebay for "Blaupunkt Madison" and no results. I got it for less than a $100 which was a good deal. The unit also has a input jack for external devices like an MP3 player, IPOD, etc..
The only one that comes close is the Blaupunkt St. Louis. It looks factory and has the right illumination. Its not all funky like the other models.

Never seen it, but looks similar to my Blau Toronto. The Toronto also allows adjustment of color from green to red. 944 Orange is just a bit off of dead center.

That's exactly what I was trying to find a few months ago, somethin that looked like it belonged in a 944 dash, couldn't get one anywhere. I'm guessing it's old stock, can you find a copyright date on the box or in the manual? I ended up getting a Hamburg CD70, very attractive unit but it doesn't look "right" and it stands out like a sore thumb. At least it sounds great and the price was right.

I also have a Toronto, made in '99. It looks very stock. I bought it to go in my BMW, but when the BMW was sold, I kept it, knowing it would be great in a 944! Color matches with the light-orange of the dash, decent sound.

They are REALLY hard to get though! Where did you get yours, Dave S?

That looks very good in the 944, I have a Sony that has no buttons the face so it kinda works.

Looking for something to replace the circa 1996 Alpine in my 911, the CD stopped working. The Alpine looked good but the new ones are so damn flashy!

Thumbs up

VERY NICE!

I like the stock look my self. I have a Sony single CD/Reciever that doesn't look too bad, but I decided to keep the stock Blau Reno and then I added a Blau BEQ-80 EQ/Amp. What you can't see is the Sony 10-disk changer which is mounted in the passenger side rear storage area.

Cliff,

Very nice setup.. I just noticed something odd in your picture. You have an 87 like mine but your center console looks different than mine. See the stitching at the edge of your center console? Mine does not even look like that.. Whats the deal ?

Full leather option I would assume.

For a tuner/cassette in a late 944, I quite like the Grundig 5500 RDS. Designed by the Porsche design department. Looks really nice in the 944. Was a factory option on Euro 968s.

For a tuner/single CD, I quite like the Porsche CDR-210 also known as the Becker Mexico 2340 (not sure about the model number).

Grundig and Becker being light years beyond the Blaupunkts that I am familiar with in terms of features and quality.

...mmmm full leather. One of the few options my car came with.

Esanmiguel,

That blaupunkt looks hot. I don't like my Miami Beach at all. The laser assembly ate it 11 months after I bought it brand new. I had to send it out for repair. I think it might be acting up again. I'll probably go Sony next time around.

I have a similar model that oi-punx has, its the Casablanca CD51. Its a nice looking unit, not overly flashy in my opinion...but yea its not the greatest player in the world. It skips pretty often.
