Ok, so the gf and i just put in our vacation requests for may 17-21st and we are planning on taking the 44 down to florida. I have almost everything sitting here for my front seals and belts, etc, im trying to get the car ready for this and autox. Now all we have to do is decide where we are going....

She has been to florida several times and i have never been there, where are some places to go(please dont say disney land/world whatever)?

I have already sent an email to gunnarracing to see if we could take a tour of their museum of restored antique porsche race cars, and i think we are going to her aunts near Ft. Desoto??? Any local rennlisters down there willing to meet up down there in may and have a little gtg or cruise/dinner or whatever???

She wants to sit on the beach all day and such, but i really want to check out the local cruisin spots and twistys (if there are any) and meet some more rennlisters that i might otherwise never have a chance.

Sarasota is very nice, Ringling Estate and Circus Museum, Bellam's antique car and music museum used to be nice. Florida Aquarium in Tampa is Great!

Where is Fort Desoto? I like history, but that's a bit before my time period!

If you like seclusion and beautiful beaches: St. George Island

Well, if you do come through the tourist hell that is Orlando....there's several of us Rennlisters in the area. I hate Disney, try to avoid that area like the plague. The Universal stuff is more my style, but it's still touristy. Sorry I don't have any ideas....I've been spending the last 4 years working and going to school. Don't get out much. Ugh...hurts to even say that.

 

Busch Gardens in Tampa is cool as well as YBOR CITY, a very popular place on the weekends, its an old cigar/historic district.

 

Ybor and the Tampa Bay area is nice. Clearwater beach is really sweet spot and you get to see 100k cars there like it's a honda. Fort Desoto is where we had our last meet at for the Tampa Bay guys. Maybe we can get a get together there again if you want to join us at that time. I was going to have it in late April or early May but I can always change that.

 

we will be down may 17-21st. so if you tampa guys want to cruise i will be up for that!!!! anyone else want to meet up that week?

Go to Miami, and South Beach if you're in for a helluva party. I went there, I passed out at 3:00 am, my sis came back at 7:00 am, and her friend didn't come back until we were to check out of our hotel!

 

you havent seen cars til you've been there.... i went to see lister "gator bait" who lives in boca raton...saw 1 enzo, 2 F50s, 1 F40, 1 barchetta and a pile of the "run of the mill" ferraris. it just amazes me that people can have soo much money....and i have so little heh.

If you get down this part of the state, Boca is just north of us here on the Gold Coast, you will be in the party part of the state, Travis is in this area, Pompano, just north of Ft. Lauderdale is where "944 online" Ian's place is located, new and used parts. Ft. Lauderdale has a super beach and less crowds than Miami South beach but thats fun too. Keep us posted, a gtg or cruise would be fun. Every Friday evening there is a big cruise in at a local shopping center parking lot here too.
