Alright. I want you to look at a picture of a Porsche in a Magazine, Excellence or Panorama will have it correct. Also, it's this way in ALL Porsche brochures.
Here are the 2 main points:
1)The point on the crest on the centre cap points towards the valve stem
2)The lug nut with the wheel lock (depending on the wheel) is either between the point on the crest and the valve stem, or it's behind the crest and the valve stem, but all three are in line.

The wheel lock typically goes opposite the valve stem for balance issues.
The point of the crest is supposed to point to the valve stem, according to most concours nuts I have talked to.

I've always heard the crest pointing to the valve stem thing too.
When I had tires put on my 85.5 at a ricer type shop the kid mounting the tires said "Hey this is a Porsche, you have to point the crest at the valve stems or it just aint right."

Well, to align the roof rack, make sure that the front of the rear bar is lined up with the back of the sunroof, and the rear of the front bar is ligned up with the front of the sunroof. Then, make sure that each foot is approx. 1/2 inch away from the sunroof itself. I have to do this EVERY time I go snowboarding, because I don't leave the rack on the rest of the time (WAY too much wind resistance...gas mileage drops by at LEAST 5 mpg...
Yeah, it's a concours thing, and I also learned about it as a Valet at the Porsche dealer. the techs would make sure that it was like that on EVERY car that they serviced.

Fellas, Fellas, Fellas.
Wheel locks:
Porsche states (this is not really an issue with the lighter, almost plastic feely bolts)
On the wheel hub, one of the 5 studs should/did have a flex of paint. When you put the wheel on. the wheel "hole" next to the tyre valve, must go on this stud. Then put all the nuts on and the "LOCKING" wheel nut goes on this same stud.
This is a balance issue, and is more relevant with the heavy old style wheel bolt, and lockers with a key.
If you have the light weight, locks this isnt as necessary, but does not hurt to do the same.
CENTRE CAP:
Porsche do not state anything about this, and you got to be pretty ****, to thing this actually matters.
ROOF RACK:
I have no information on this, but a sports car with a roof rack as as 'bout geeky that you can get. That's even a step down from being a ricer !
BTW,
does anyone know of a roof rock for my s2 cab ?![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
enjoy

Of course this all sound like a joke. I was deducted points in a concours a long time ago because of this misalignment. So during one of my trips to the factory in Zuffenhausen, I checked. Believe it or not, they mount the tires, wheels and lugs just as described!! Not sure of the reason, but it is true.
