Default 429: Special model "Sebring" ?

The 944 I've just bought has among other options #429 which says "Special model Sebring" when I look it up.

I think that Sebrgin is a track, but does anyone here know what was so special about the special model?

sebring is indeed a track in southern florida and home of the 12 hours of sebring. i've read something about the sebring model 924 in the past, but this may be way off: i believe the sebring pkg included some special striping on the exterior and possibly some interior trim. not much of a help i know....

as far as this tells me, the Sebring option on a 924 is the exterior trim, and the interior pattern, and i cant tel if anyhting was done to the engine or suspension.

I think Sebring special was only on 924 ... maybe the code means something else on a 944?? If somebody has that Peter Morgan's 924/944/968 book handy it should clear things up... IIRC most of the special models had sport suspension and probably some electric stuff like power windows as standard

I think the Sebring Edition was produced to celebrate Porsches' victory at the Sebring race the previous season? No mechanical changes, only paint and badging.

Actually, the Sebring model was 200 lbs lighter than the standard 924.

Heh, heh, always keep that book handy - it's the only 'bible' in this house!

Anyway, in the 944 chapter it lists M429 as 'fog lamp, white (924, 944)', and as 'special model, Sebring' in the 924 chapter. Confusing, but my money's on the fog lights!
