Angry Vibration...

Good news and bad news. I replaced my motor mounts. Good news is the vibrations I had before are now gone. Idles very smooth now, like night and day. I suggest not putting off replacing them. Bad news is I have a new vibration (transmitted through the shifter). This new vibration is at about 3200 RPM and rather harsh. Any ideas??? Could it be balance belt/shafts???

Thanks

Balance shafts may be incorrectly timed too. It's a common thing with mechs who aren't really experienced with these cars.

Dito the balance shaft timing and add having one of the pulleys off 170 degress. One of the two keyway slots.

I'll add a vote for the balance shaft belt. It could be broken. If it wasn't that way before and suddenly started vibrating, then the belt broke or jumped/thrashed some teeth. Whatever you do, don't drive it until you take off the cover and check out the belt. If it is broken, it could end up wrapping itself around the timing belt or get jammed between the timing belt and a pully. All very bad things.

Check it out, and good luck! Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the info. I will check my balance belt.
Any help on checking my torque tube bearings?
