Default Glove compartment light bulb

Does anyone know what type of bulb the glovebox light uses? Mine is missing the bulb and the Sylvania computer at Pep Boys only lists the bulbs for the ashtray and the luggage compartment/headliner lights.

I tried to buy one of those bulbs at my local Porsche dealer but they said that it only came as the whole assembly so on the way home I stopped in at an auto electrical shop and showed them the old bulb & presto, new bulb for $1.

Why don't you just drive the car to the auto parts store, pull the bulb there in the parking lot, walk in and compare with bulbs on the shelf, and grab the one that matches? It's a common bulb, any Autozone has it.

The bulb has the marking "NARVA F2" on one end and "12V/3W" on the other end & it looks like this:

Thanks Mate, I didn't have a bulb to compare at the store either.

PCMAX, weren't you the one that had the timing belt go just after purchase? How did that turn out?

You are probably not going to be able to find that Narva bulb in the US at your local PepBoys. But the Narva number is 17094.

The bulb is as pictured and is a 12 volt, 3 watt, SV 7 socket base. The overall bulb length is 28 to 29mm depending on who makes them. And about 6 to 8 mm wide.

You will probably have better luck finding the Sylvania bulb, part #6428. Actually, see if you can get the Sylvania #DE3021 - that is more or less the same but has a rated life of 1000 hours. Which should last until your car goes to the crusher.

Jonnybgood,
Thankfully it was not me who had the timing belt probs. I hope to never have trouble with that little number. 2 words PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.

With the glove box light the switch will stick for just that last little bit, just enough that it won't work. Try pulling the black part out, after I bought a new switch I found this out.
