Default 1985/1 944 no oil pressure after months long water pump replacement

Just finished water pump replacement along with front main seal replacement, etc. Start car - no oil pressure. Car has been sitting for a few months. Is it OK to crank engine with coil wire off to try for pressure? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Need to prime the oil pump. It is a 2-person project. Remove the spark plugs. Plug the outlet scavenging hose from the AOS. Use control air pressure of 10 psig and pressure the oil system by using an air gun with rubber tapered tip inserted in the oil dip stick tube. The second person cranks the engine. It might take a few attempts to prime the oil pump and build pressure.

are you sure that the sending unit is hooked up? It is right near the water pump

Make sure that front crank bolt is tightened to 155 ft/lbs or 210nm. Otherwise the drive sleeve will slip and not drive the oil pump.

You can also prime by removing oil filter and pouring oil into the outside segments

If the servo pully is not mounted nicely in the center, you have the same phenomenon. Even if the bolt is sufficiently tightened

Must turn crankshaft CCW to draw oil into oil pump cavity. Best to insert plastic tubing with a small funnel attached to pour oil into the funnel with the tubing outlet inserted into the outside circumference hole. Recheck torque on crankshaft bolt.

Thank you! pwr steering pulley was cockeyed. I did the same thing last year on my 928 after umpteen times of never screwing it up before. Looks really hard to do if you wanted to....but Murphy's law. Pulley is gummed up beyond repair and don't want to force it on especially when it is responsible for oil pressure. Does anyone have a used one for sale or can recommend a US salvage yard? part # 944 102 214 02 W I p Part # is located on the perimeter of the back of the pulley. Thanks again to every one who responded.
