Another hint on the engine - it's domestic, but the first car to use a "version" of this motor was partially built in Italy.

The engine in the picture is a current production version. The italian reference is at least 10 years old.

So, it's US built, a supercharged V8, mid-mounted (longitudinal) and not huge capacity....
(Stop me if any of this is wrong!)
Ford had dealings with Ferrari in the sixties, could this be the connection? Nah, too obvious...
It looks like a very special piece of kit, could it be a DeTomaso Pantera????

It's not out of a Shelby Series car is it? I know the Series 2 is available with a Vortech supercharger like that motor has, and is also a dohc V8 like that motor, but the I'm not sure about the suspension pickup points.

OK - there are a bunch of unanswered cars still.
Manning posted a couple that never got resolved:
The little coupe looks like a DKW Puma GT (but may not be)
The little red car might be an OSCA (but I'm sure it's the Geico Gecko car)
The Aero-Vette is in there. Chevy's concept of what the Vette might be in the 80's. Mid mounted twin Wankel rotory engine.
The car with the tree growing through it is a 3-series BMW.
Oh - the little white roadster is a Honda S600 or S800.

Need more hints on the engine. Panoz?

Close enough

Here's the rolling chassis:

Supercharged Shelby Series 1 - photos taken at Shelby headquarters in Las Vegas

EDIT - The rolling chassis is NOT a supercharged model.

Exactly!! Had to find a more 'mysterious' shot. The side exhaust was a clue though. Nice job Michael....

Am I on the right lines?
I tried to get Alex to change his mind, but......no dice. The second pic is indeed an Aston Martin DB4 Zagato, built to DP209 specs. This one is probably fresh out of restoration, given the polished aluminum body.

Scott is wrong, wrong and correct regarding the pictures I posted. Here are some hints about the first two: the cars were made by the same company and both had boxer type motors, though from different companies.

The *** end view kept throwing me off, it was very Abarth looking. Your right about the side pipes though, that's what finally tipped me off to Maserati
