Question Did this really happen?

I came across this incorrectly listed eBay sale.

Did this really happen? If so, someone got the deal of the century. Hope it was someone here and not a flipper.
Sorry if this is a re-post. I don't spend much time on this forum.

Wouldn't surprise me I've seen a few 968 and even S2 cabs going for $3,500-5k lately. Some with under 100k miles but majority in the 150k mark.

Wow. Seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money - like the 928 was a few years back.

There is just something not right about that car, just a hunch on a few observations.

Why does the ps reservoir not have a cap?

Why is the coolant tank empty or extremely low on coolant?

Why is the interior instrument panel photo shot to “deliberately” obscure the mileage?

Purchased for his son who is a Porsche enthusiast but doesn’t like a manual shift...mmmm

+1 I think that's the most fishy thing about this deal, haha. $3900 though?! Someone seriously stole that thing, but hopefully it's legit and there's one more 968 burning up the roads.

$3,500 will turn into $13,500 real fast on a coupe, how much is a new convertible top? I lived near Hicksville for decades. Salty roads, and salty air. Konis are 800, rebuilt control arms are $1,000, the bushing and eccentric bolt for the control arm are close to $400. Labor? Seat covers are how much? Should we discuss the power steering system, does the AC blow? Blow cold?

Curb rash? How much are pads and rotors?

I will stop there because my glass just went to half full. Deal of the century is knowing some of those answers. I looked at a 968 for not much more than that. I made an offer, and for a few days tried justifying in my mind a reason to go higher. Each iteration brought me to the conclusion that I was overly exuberant when I was next to the car. I guess that is a trait all of us on this board are guilty of when we look into buying a new project.

Hmm, I'd check that carefully.

Looks like owner pulled the add. Auction says "item no longer available" not "sold". Must have sold privately or gotten cold feet.

Maybe the seats were in another car before this one? Asking as those seats look to have a LOT more miles in them than 72,000

Anyone else notice the 'waterline' mark on passenger kick panel ?
A flood car ? Or one which had rain water thru the top into footwell ?

It's a very early car, so maybe needs to be saved ( note the sunken hood badge as on very early cars. )
It's a fairly uncommon and desirable color, but that paint on the rear bumper ! Looks to be sprayed on by a drywall / texturing crew .....

And it's certainly seen a lot of time in the sun ( dash, seats, inside of top fade ).
A lot of car for little money, but what a bunch of needs it has; my enthusiasm wanes with each passing moment.
